MARLA ELIZABETH ROGERS

ROGERS, MARLA ELIZABETH - It is with profound sadness and with family members by her side, Marla, 67, of Moncton, passed away at the Georges Dumont Hospital on Saturday, July 4th, 2009. Born in Murray Corner, she was the daughter of the late Waldo and Annie (Hayes) Murray. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Michael (Heather) Riverview, Myron (Aphra) Kingston, Ont. and Ian (Stacey Dryden) Riverview. Marla's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren, Marla-Ann, Christie, Bradley and James. Also saddened are her sisters Cora Parker, Moncton, Donna (Maurice Gaudet) Banting, Dieppe, Joy (William) Bubar, Mount Hope, Ont. and brother Steward (Donna) Murray, Little Shemogue. She was predeceased by her brothers Douglas and Lysle; sisters Louise Trenholm, Eileen Cameron and infant sister Viva. Marla worked as a caregiver at the Kenneth E Spencer Memorial Home for more than 20 years. She also worked in the evenings at the Moncton Hospital for a few years taking care of a family friend Myron Dunn until his passing. Her work continued at the hospital sitting with patients in palliative care till earlier this year. There will be no visitation or funeral service as it was Marla's wish to donate her body to science. There will be a small service in Murray Corner Pioneer Cemetery once her ashes have been returned to the family from Dalhousie University. A memorial is expected in mid August to allow out of province relatives time to attend. We the family, would like to thank all for your thoughts, prayers and help. A special thank-you goes to all that help her at the Georges Dumont hospital. Another special thank-you goes to Uncle Ian and Stacey for putting on a brave face and George Canyon for making Marla-Ann and Christie's day a little better. Marla would have wanted it that way. Her life should not be mourned but celebrated as her spirit will be with us always. In Marla's memory, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. A verse she had underlined in her bible reads: In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ 1 Peter 1:3b Thanks mom (Grannie) for everything. We love you!
