61, Sydney Mines Bernadette Rose Lettice, 61, of Sydney Mines, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Butts) Devoe. A loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother, Bernadette spent the bulk of her time caring for and nurturing her family and friends. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church and was employed as a supervisor with the Northside School Board cleaning staff for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Daniel; daughters, Jean Marie Rendell, Sydney Mines, Linda (Bill), Boularderie; sons, Jimmy (Dawna), Sydney, Greg (Kim), Sydney Mines, and Darrell (Rachel), Sydney Mines. Also surviving are sisters, Doris McLean, Claire (John) Cousins, Linda Devoe (Paul), Louise (Steve) Moran; and brothers, Dennis (Janet), Martin, Kenneth (Marlene), Todd (Lynn); her sister-in-law, Eileen in Boularderie; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Jimmy and Eugene. At Bernadette's request there will be no visitation. Funeral services will be celebrated Friday at 3 p.m. in the Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery at a later date. As memorials, donations may be made to the Sydney Cancer Centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
