62, Tower Road It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Sharon Lorraine Yates on Dec. 16, 2008, at the QE II Health Science Centre, Halifax. Born in Glace Bay and formerly of Big Glen, she was the daughter of the late John and Rosaline (Currie) Burgess. Sharon was a loving and caring mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family. "Mom you were the wind beneath our wings, our strength and guidance." Sharon is survived by her husband, Edward; daughters, Carinna (Lawrence), New Brunswick, Sharon, Glace Bay, Maxine (John), Ontario, and April, Glace Bay; sons, Danny, Glace Bay, and Wade (Toni), Ontario; sisters, Doreen Schaffner, Ontario, Ann Rosta, Helen Burgess and Marjorie, all of Glace Bay; brothers, Richard, Sydney, Roy, Ontario, and Danny and Jack, both of Glace Bay. Also surviving Sharon are 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Sharon was predeceased by brothers, Stanley and George, sisters, Barbara, Hope and Dolly and by her stepfather, Michael Currie. There will be a private visitation for family only, with cremation to follow and burial at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520.
