90, North Sydney / Sydney It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister and aunt, Lena Whalen, formerly of North Sydney, and recently of Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, which occurred Friday, December 26, 2008 at the C.B. Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Minnie (Fougere) Tromans. Prior to living in North Sydney, Lena spent several years in Newfoundland with her husband Ronald. She cherished the time spent there, and always looked forward to return visits whenever possible. Lena was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, North Sydney. She is survived by two sisters, Rose Roache of Moncton, Shirley Publicover of Halifax; two brothers, Benjamin Tromans of Boularderie, Ambrose Tromans of Ontario; four step sisters; one step brother and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald; sisters, Marie Tromans and Eva Campbell, and two brothers, George and Alfred. The family wish to express their appreciation to the staff of Harbourstone Enhanced Care, especially the staff of St. Anns Bay for the care shown Lena over the years. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be held Monday 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to info@wjdooley.com
