78, North Sydney Mrs. Frances Colburn, 78, a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home and formerly of Sydney Mines, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Sophia (House) Tremblett. She was a member of Carman United Church and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 8, Sydney Mines. She is survived by her daughters, June Kieley, Sydney Mines, Linda (Kevin) Cantwell, Sydney; her son, Carl Colburn Jr., Bras d'Or; sisters, Edith Pye, North Sydney, Sylvia Darling, Boston; her grandchildren, Nicole, Courtney, Troy, Carla, Scott and Rodney; and her great-grandchildren, Nathan, Mackenzie, Steven, Logan, Jenna, Jordan, Brittany and Lindsay. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl, sisters, Annie, Violet and Elizabeth, her brothers, Ernest and William and son-in-law, James Kieley. Visitation will be in the Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be celebrated Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Ms. Pro Miller officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. As memorials, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society or the Canadian Red Cross.
