99, Boisdale It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Mary Margaret MacLean, 99, a lifelong resident of Boisdale, on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney. Born April 2, 1909, in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Mary Ann MacDonald of Boisdale. She was a member of St. Andrew Church, Boisdale. Margaret was well known for her Gaelic singing and enjoyed performing at various functions. Over the years she shared her love and knowledge of the Gaelic language and heritage to many students taking Celtic studies at St. FX University, Antigonish. She lived in her own home until her death, which she shared with her son John and his wife Mae MacLean, who also cared for her over the last number of years; she is also survived by her daughters, Mary Sarah (Sadie) MacIntyre, Mary MacIsaac, both of Boisdale, and Mildred (John) Stolarski, Langley, B.C.; her sister, Helen Stewart, Collingwood, Ont.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Roderick MacLean, a daughter, Helen Gillis, four brothers, Rod, Billy, John J. and Raymond, three sisters, Anne, Jessie and Effie. Visitation for Margaret will be held Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. Andrew Church, Boisdale. Funeral time to be announced. Burial to take place at St. Andrew Parish Cemetery, Boisdale. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
