MacNeil 1932-2008, Glace Bay It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Roy 'Bugles' Gerald MacNeil, 76, of Princess Street, Glace Bay. Gerald passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at his residence. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Charles and Nora. He was employed with Devco retiring after 34 years of service. He enjoyed playing darts and pool. Gerald was a former member of the Army Navy Air Force Veterans in Canada, Glace Bay. Gerald will be sadly missed by wife, Delores (Popwell); daughters, Charlene (Jimmy), Ann (Angus), Diana (Sean), Rita (Paul), Joanne (Andy); sons, Gerard (Rhodina), Roy (Diane), Ray (Lucy), Alex (Lisa), Eric (Laurel), David (Kathy), Russel (Marilyn), Art, Robert; brothers, Joe, Terry; sisters, Martha, Rosemary, Janette, Dena; 42 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Besides his birth parents, he was predeceased by chosen parents, Joe and Sarah Hines, brothers, Neil, Billy, Dan, sisters, Sarah, Bessy, Cleana, sons, Joseph, Donald and daughter, Gail Patricia. Visitation for Gerald MacNeil will be held Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, 2-4 p.m. with a funeral service to follow, both in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald's memory may be made to a charity of choice.
