97, Halifax Sr. Margaret MacLellan (John of the Cross), 97, died at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Jan. 1, 2009. Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret (MacDonald). She entered the Sisters of Charity in Halifax in 1930 and made her religious profession in 1933. Sister taught for over 37 years in Quebec, P.Q., Riverton, N.J., North Andover, Mass., Canton, N.Y., Halifax, Port Hawkesbury, Stellarton, N.S. Sister also served her community by working with the Novices for 14 years. After retiring, she was involved for several years in parish and community activities in Cape Breton and in Halifax at the Motherhouse. She is survived by a sister, Sr. Carmelina, Sister of Charity; and brother, Danny, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Anne Catherine and brothers, Alexander, John A., James Michael. The body will be in Caritas Residence, visitation Monday, Jan. 5 from 3-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Chapel, Caritas Residence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, N.S.
