72, Sydney Jean Vatcher, 72, of Sydney passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Annie Winnifred (Kingsbury) Dawe. She was a member of St. Alban's Church, Whitney Pier. Jean's sister, Shirley gave her the gift of life 10 years ago, by donating a kidney to her. Jean is survived by her husband, Louis; daughters, Donna Brown, Margaret Vatcher (Mike), both of Sydney, Karen (John) Bell, Eureka, N.S.; sons, Kenneth (Pamela), Reserve Mines, David (Sabrina), Sydney; sister, Shirley (Ed) Connelly, Halifax; brother, Raymond (Valerie) Dawe, Sydney; eight grandchildren, Mary Ann, Barry, James, Christopher, Bonnie-Jean, John Otto, Mitchell, Ashley; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Abagail. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Irene in infancy and a brother, William. Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 5, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney memorial Chapel. Funeral service will take place Tuesday, 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
