Burland MacLean
Date de décès : 4 janvier 2009
57, Windsor, Ont. With great sadness, we announce the passing of a wonderful father, son, brother, uncle and friend, Burland MacLean of Windsor, Ont., on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009. 'Burl' was born in Glace Bay to Neil and Claire MacLean on April 24, 1951. He graduated from St. Michael's High School and was employed both as a truck driver and at the Machine Shop before joining the RCMP in 1972. Stationed in Ontario, he worked for 25 years and retired to Windsor, Ont., where his great love for cars manifested into work for both new and used car companies until death. His life in Windsor eased his becoming an ardent Detroit Tigers fan. Of his many accomplishments with the RCMP, he was proudest of being awarded the key to the City of New Orleans for his work in association with the New Orleans Police Department (1991). Burl was predeceased by his father, Neil (1999) and his daughter, Lisa (2003). He is survived by his mother, Claire; brothers, Brennon (Brenda), Glace Bay, and Blake, at home; and by nieces, Brandi, Briana, Brittany; and ex-wife, Debbie MacLean. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. Visitation for the late Burland MacLean will be held Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., 849-7520, from 2-3 p.m. with memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. with Fr. Gerald Campbell. Memorial service is also being held Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at the Centennial Sports Club, St. Thomas, Ont. Online condolences may be e-mailed to patten@seaside.ns.ca.
