Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, Thomas Ash of Carbonear, age 86 years. Predeceased by parents: George and Winnifred; step-mother Alice Ash; brothers: Jack and Melvin; sisters: Elizabeth and Margaret. Leaving to mourn, three daughters: Winnifred (Bramwell) Pilgrim and Peggy Crane, both of Carbonear and Gladys (John) Slade, Victoria; one son Thomas (Marcella), Carbonear; nine grandchildren: Brooks (Amanda), Bret, Braeden, Dawson, John Jr. (Pamela), Rebecca (Michael), Amanda (Don), Stephanie (Edward) and Jennifer (John); ten great-grandchildren: Matthew, Nathan, Jessica, Jonathan, Asha, Payton, Desmond, Tyler, Evan and Julie; step-brother: Melvin Ash, Carbonear; nephew: Charles (Doreen) Noel, Carbonear; niece: Margaret (Jay) Garvey, Ontario; sister-in-law Alice (John) Squires, Sibley’s Cove, also a large number of other relatives and friends. Thomas unselfishly completed directive to have his body donated to medical science. The family will receive relatives and friends at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Friday, March 12 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. A private family memorial service to take place on Saturday at Noel’s Memorial Chapel, Carbonear. No flowers or donations by request of the family.
