It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dora Dorothy Young of Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland. Dora passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010, following a courageous three year battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Philomena and George Young of St. Teresa’s. Dora leaves behind her siblings: Yvonne (Edward) Cormier of St. Teresa’s, Roy (Angela) Young of Stephenville and Jean Muise of St. Georges. She will be dearly missed by a special friend of the family Nolan Young, her children: Carol Ann (Andrew) Hickey of Flat Bay, Nancy Young of Saint John, New Brunswick, Joseph \"Clarky\" (Pauline) Young of Stephenville and Veronica \"Vonnie\" (Harvey) Young of Barachois Brook. Four loving granddaughters: Trina (Kelly and Danika) Wells of Kingston, New Brunswick, Kimberley Bennett of Flat Bay, Serena Bennett of Stephenville, Sara (Paul) Babb of Stephenville Crossing and grandson Michael (Vanessa) Coggan of Hampton, New Brunswick. Two adoring great grandchildren: Spencer and Skyler Cormier of Stephenville, in addition to many wonderful nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Dora was predeceased by her brothers: Percy and Raymond Young, also of St. Teresa’s and her great granddaughter baby Hannah Babb. Dora’s generous ways and caring nature was reflected in all she did. Whether it was offering a cup of tea and a lunch or just sitting for a chat, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Resting at Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Stephenville Crossing, there will be visitation on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 13th at 11am from the Assumption Catholic Church in Stephenville Crossing. Interment to follow at St. Teresa’s Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca.

    “My aunt was a very loving woman.I remember when she came to my home in St Johns and stayed with me when she doctors appointments,stayed a full week with me and my daughter Chelsey.Tara joined her on the trip.....She cooked jigs dinner in my house for all of us,which she cooked every Sunday..My daughter also did a project for school based on her life over the years,great stories she told.Chelsey still remembers it like it was yesterday.I miss her so much,that whole week she stayed with me,all we done was laugh and tell stories during the day.and had a few beers in the evening.Aunt Dora will always be in my heart .Love and Miss you ..oxoxox Love Maureen(Roy and Angela Young`s daughter.”
