It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of Emma Kathleen Devoe, age 65, on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney Mines, Emma was the daughter of the late Donald and Margaret Morrison. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.
Emma was survived by her partner of many years, Angus MacDonald, North Sydney; two daughters, Kathy (Harvey) Evans, North Sydney and Colleen BeLong, Alliston, Ont. and her four grandchildren, Heather and Matthew Evans, North Sydney and Stephen and Kristen BeLong in Ontario. Also surviving are her sister Marie (Charlie) Young, Groves Point and her special aunt, Emma Jobes and special cousin Rogene McGean, both of Groves Point .
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Emma Alberta.
A funeral mass for Emma will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial to take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
