It is with great sadness that we wish to announce the sudden passing of James May on Sunday, March 14, 2010. Born August 9, 1924 in Chatham, NB, he was a son of the late Richard and Sarah (Eva) May. Jimmy was a proud member of the West Nova Scotia Regiment and a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26. He joined the army at the young age of 16 and served for almost 5 years. Jim was a retired carpenter having worked for the C.N. Railway for 34 years. He was a generous man always making his family his first priority. He will be remembered for his kind heart and sense of humor. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, predeceased by sisters, Helen Comeau, Marie Landers; brothers, Matthew, George, Ernest, Joseph and Bernard. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Florence “Toots” (Frizzell); his only child, Greg whom he adored; his two treasures in life, his grandchildren, Matthew and Jessica. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 & 7-9 pm with a Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26 Tribute Service at 7:00 pm all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, March 17 at 2:00 pm in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro with Father Dariusz Miskowicz as Celebrant. There will be a reception following the Mass in Colchester Community Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, Kanes Kitchen or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 Building Fund.
