77, Sydney William Neil Stewart, 77, Sydney, passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Gabarus, he was a son of the late Donald A. and Mary Ann (Nelson) Stewart. For 30 years, Bill worked as an optician in Halifax and Cape Breton. He was a member of the Masonic Thistle Lodge No.36, Port Morien and Philae Shriners. Surviving are his daughter, Dawn (Donald) Hopkins, Port Morien; and grandchildren, Caitlyn Grace and Rebecca Raye. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Alfreda (Leach) in 1988, siblings, Johannes, Evelyn, James, Christine and Leslie. There will be no visitation by request.
