The passing of Joseph Francis Hayes (Uncle Joe) formerly of Tay Creek, NB occurred on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB. Born on May 25, 1909 in Tay Creek, NB, he was the son of the late Thomas and Annie (Owens) Hayes. Joseph retired as a salesman for Stanley Mutual Fire Insurance. He was a member of the Parish Council and took an active interest in all church activities, community groups (Lodges and Clubs) and was very active in Tay Creek Picnic. Joseph is survived by his sister, Evelyn Horncastle of Fredericton, NB; brother, Leo of Windsor, ON and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his sisters, Josephine, Leitha Agnes, Mary and Margaret; brothers, Gerard, Harold, Frederick, Thomas and Louis Hayes.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Tay Creek, NB on Saturday at 10 am with Father Aaron Knox as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the cemetery fund, Nashwaak Villa Activity Program or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
