Steele, Ruby (Dykens) - 86, of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 in the home. Born in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Annie (Farris) Dykens. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, knitting and puzzles. She is survived by two daughters, Marlene Steele (Bert Pigott), Waterville; Doreen Barnaby, New Minas; four sons, Leroy Dykens, New Brunswick; Glendon Dykens, Wallbrook Mountain; Wayne (Marlene) Dykens, Canning; Curtis Dykens, Saskatchewan; granddaughter, Mary-Ann Stevens (Darren Drew), their children, Justin, Devin and Kira; several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester Steele; two sisters, Angeline and Leona; five brothers, Judd, John, Noble, Bob and Freeman. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service followed by a reception will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010, Reverend Murray Shaw officiating. Burial will take place in the Glenmont Cemetery, Kings County, Nova Scotia. No flowers by her request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
