It is with saddened hearts that the family of Hendrika “Hetty” Petronella Smith of Waterville, Sunbury Cty., N.B. announce her passing on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was 65. Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, she was the daughter of the late Charles Christian and Jeanette (Nollen) DeVré. Hetty was Roman Catholic by faith. She enjoyed her gardening, and was a longtime member of the Canadian Kennel Club. Hetty had a great love for her pets and was a breeder of the Rough Collie, Golden Retriever, and Shetland Sheep Dog. One of her other enjoyments were the trips travelling around the Cabot Trail, but the greatest love was being with her family, children and grandchildren. Survived by her husband Jim; children Edward (Janet) of Fredericton, Patrick (Cindy) of Moncton, Jeanette Hudson (Michael) of Fredericton; eleven grandchildren Cameron, Benjamin, Clayton, Daniel, Kyra, Amanda, Tyler, Jennifer, Thomas, Alex and Michael; brother Hans DeVré (Willie) of Amsterdam; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road on Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Monte Peters officiating. Interment will be in the Geary, French Lake, Waterville Cemetery at a later date.
