The death of Ken Fitch of Fredericton, NB occurred on March 20th, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born December 23rd, 1931 in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Murray and Merle (Hennigar) Fitch and husband to Dolores “Doe†(Comeau) Fitch.
Ken was a loving father, grandfather and devoted husband. Known for his integrity and compassion he served his community as a volunteer for numerous organizations. He was a member of the RCMP Veteran’s Association, retiring from the RCMP as a Staff Sergeant after 22 years of service. For a brief time he was a Criminal Code Instructor at the Atlantic Police Academy. Before founding Canadian Security and Consultants in 1978, he was Chief Inspector for the Department of Justice, Province of NB for four years. He was a long standing and active member of St. Margaret’s Anglican Church.
He is survived by his wife, Doe of 54 years; his children, Sheree Fitch (Gilles Plante) of Dartmouth, NS, Shawn Fitch (Sue Lawrence) of Fredericton, NB, Leanne Fitch (Sara McElman) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Jordan McCormack, Dustin McCormack, Chelsey Fitch, Cameron Fitch, Benjamin Fitch and Zachary Fitch; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jaxson and Cohen; sister, Maxine John of Victoria, BC; sisters-in-law, Joan Fitch of Nepean, ON and Nancy Fitch of Chester Basin, NS as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Dean and John.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held for Ken at Christ Church Cathedral on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Canon Jon Lownds and The Very Rev. Keith Joyce officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
