Halifax Matthew Janega died peacefully Monday, Jan. 20, 2009, in Halifax Infirmary surrounded by his loving family. Matthew was the son of Matthew and Josephine Janega of Whitney Pier. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Ann Micak, his brothers, Martin, John and Peter. He is survived by his son, Paul; daughters, Ann (Neville Gilfoy), Janet (Doug Hayre), Susan (Danny Baird), Lucy (Dr. Jason Hitkari); seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret (Maryan) Dugandzic, Sydney River; and his sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. Family will welcome friends at Dartmouth Funeral Home, Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral, Thursday, Jan. 22, 11 a.m. Reception to follow.
