Don passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at his home in Moose Jaw. He was born in Antelope, Saskatchewan April 29, 1925. He moved to Brownlee when he was two years old, where he farmed with his father. In 1950 he married Ione Buckmaster. They were blessed with three boys. They lived in Brownlee from 1950 to 1967. In Brownlee he was an active member of the community, serving as a local school board trustee and on almost every other committee. He was a major contributor in the building of the Brownlee Rink. In 1967 he moved to the farm northeast of Brownlee for many years until retiring back to Brownlee where he lived until recently. Throughout his life he was active in sports both as a player and coach for his sons. Later he enjoyed watching his grandchildren. He was a councilor on the Marquis Municipality board. Don was predeceased by his two sisters, Gene Hamilton and Marg Purdy. He is survived by his wife Ione (Buckmaster); his sons, Rick, Randy (Heather), and Clair (Char); grandchildren: Evan (Jill), Eric (Hailey), Marissa, Stacia, Taylor and many relatives and friends that he has shared his life with. A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at W.J.Jones and Son Chapel on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 1:30 pm with Della Ferguson officiating. Memorialization will take place at Brownlee Cemetery at a later date.
