Steeves, Gerald Willard, 85, passed away at the Jordan Lifecare Centre on March 25, 2010. Formerly of Salisbury, Gerald was born in Intervale; he was a son of the late Cheston “Chet” and Birdie (Wheaton) Steeves. Gerald is survived by his sister Hazel Cochrane; as well as by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his sisters, Alma (Phil) Herrington of Toronto, ON, and Florence (Malcolm) Rosborough of Rexdale, ON; and his brother, Clinton (Marion) Steeves of Hopewell Cape, NB. Gerald worked at CNR from 1957 until he retired after 31 years of service in 1988. Gerald was known for his inspiring of softball games and for his love of hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. Lastly, Gerald will be fondly remembered for his avid love of bluegrass music and jamborees. He was a kind and loving uncle and friend. He had a large number of nieces and nephews that adored him; he will be greatly missed by them. Having never been married, Gerald had a large extended family that he was very fond of. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 30th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 31st at 11:00 am with Pastor Lloyd O’Blenis presiding, all in Armstrong’s Funeral Home, Petitcodiac.
