56, Sydney We regret to announce the passing of Ivan Sampson, on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Vincent and Edith (Dunphy) Sampson. Ivan was employed at Holy Angels School for several years and then he was with the Cape Breton Regional School Board. He later moved to Ontario and was employed with the Salvation Army until retiring back home to Cape Breton. Survived by his loving fiancÉe, Madonna Ferguson and her extended family. He is survived by his children, Cindy, Sydney, Ian (Crystal), Halifax; his two grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew Wadden; mother of his children, Valerie Sampson; two sisters, Leta (Neil) Thomas, Darlene Sampson, Halifax; two brothers, Wayne, Halifax, Larry (Judy), New Brunswick. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Giselle Wall. Visitation will take place Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, in the funeral home chapel.
