ZANIDEAN - (Baki), Ishie, 81 years of Swift Current, SK, joined her angels in heaven on March 3, 2009.

Ishie was born in Lebanon, December 25, 1927. She married Husni Zanidean on May 21, 1944, and they had four children together before he left to Canada to search out a new life for their growing family. Ishie and the four children followed a few years later. Once reunited, they had five more children and farmed west of Swift Current. Ishie worked hard her entire life and her family meant everything to her. She spoke Arabic and never learned to speak English but managed to get by knowing a few words and making up a few of her own along the way. She loved to cook Lebanese food and fed anyone who came through her door. Ishie always had the most beautiful garden and took pride in her ability to grow hearty vegetables. She also loved to visit with friends and neighbours. Ishie was predeceased by her daughter Mahassen Zanidean in 1998, her brother Ahmed Baki in 2007, her brother Mohammed Baki in 2007, and her son Reath Zanidean in 2008. She will be sadly missed by her husband Husni Zanidean; daughter Carol (Mahmoud) Hayek, granddaughter Kefah Hayek, great grandson Bilal Musbah, great granddaughter Maryam Musbah, granddaughter Ilham Hayek all of Edmonton; son Ali (Zakia) Zanidean, grandson Fadi (Vanessa) Zanidean, great grandsons Nabil and Adnan of Swift Current, grandson Rayath (Carlyn) Zanidean of Saskatoon; daughter Rose (Omran) Zanidean, grandson Nasser (Wafaa) Zanidean, great grandson Adam, granddaughter Joanne (Mohammed) Zanidean, great granddaughter Leila, and great grandson Dayne, granddaughter Emella Zanidean, and great grandson Saeid of Gull Lake; son Abdou (Shiela) Zanidean, grandsons Jameison and Landon Zanidean of Christopher Lake; son Hamid (Darla) Zanidean of Gull Lake, grandson Shawn Zanidean (Lisa Steinley) of Swift Current, granddaughter Tara Zanidean (Ken Undseth), great granddaughter Aaliyah of Cabri, granddaughter Tanya Zanidean (Eric Heron) of Swift Current; son Eddie Zanidean of Swift Current, grandson Christopher (Tara-Lee) Zanidean, great granddaughter Megan of Lethbridge, AB, granddaughter Jennifer Zanidean (Bill Dyck), great granddaughters Patience and Grace Dyck of Swift Current, granddaughter Erin Zanidean of Swift Current, grandsons Jaden and James Zanidean of Westwold, BC; son Tom (Wendy) Zanidean, grandsons Kyle and Bryan Zanidean of Swift Current; grandson Aaron Zanidean of Swift Current; As well as extended family and friends. The Funeral Service was held at The Islamic Centre on Friday March 6, 2009, at 2:00 pm. Officiated by Sheikh Yusef Hajazi. Eulogy read by Rayath Zanidean. Ishie was laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Burial Park. Thank you to the numerous doctors, nurses and staff at Cypress Regional Hospital as well as the Swift Current Home Care nurses who took wonderful care of our mother and grandmother over the past few months.
