We regret to announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Francis George Jobes, at the Northside General Hospital, on Sunday, March 22, 2009.
George was born in Sydney Mines, and grew up in Boularderie. He was the son of the late Hugh Angus and Flora Ann (MacEachern) Jobes. He was a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney. George worked for many years with Progressive Wholesale, until his retirement. He was a very social person, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, John (Jeannie); grandson, Michael; daughter, Bonita (Barry) Wall; grandchildren, Amber, Angel, Alyssa, Cassie, Amanda, Brianne, Dylan, and Kaden; daughter, Florence (John) Cann; grandchildren, Sam, Rebecca, Tyler, Matthew, Jonathon and Sheila; grandson, Kyle Lewis; a sister, Anne (Leo) Ryan and a sister-in-law, Edith (Sandy) MacInnis.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his loving wife, Ida Anna (White) in 2007; son, Hughie in 1994; sisters, Mary Sarah, Catherine Perktin, Margaret O’Reilley; brother, John; two siblings in infancy and his father and mother-in-law, Leo and Elizabeth White.
Visitation for George Jobes will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Please join us in a celebration of George’s life on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Peter MacLeod officiating. The burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
