Janet Conway, 84, of Plymouth, Pictou County, passed away April 5, 2009 in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Hamilton, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Jessie (Low) Brown.
A war bride, she settled in Plymouth, and was a 64 year member of that community. Well known for her homemade bread, Janet loved company and everyone was made to feel welcome in her home, the teapot was always on. A founding member of the Plymouth Fire Department Ladies Auxillary, she was also a member of the Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, and the U.C.W. She enjoyed darts and belonged to the Golden Glen Seniors Club, Plymouth. Family was always important, and she remained close to her family at home in Scotland. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Sheila Conway, Plymouth; Michael (Anne) Conway, Plymouth; Alex (Shirley) Conway, Lorne; Raymond (Rebecca) Conway, Calgary; Ian (Darlene) Conway, Calgary; grandchildren: Michelle (Glenn) Livingston, Kathleen (Paul) MacDonald, Shannon (Blair) Yerxa, Laura (Joe MacDonald) Conway, Alex (Lorraine) Conway; Vincent (Tanya) Conway, Christopher Conway, Rae Lee Brenneman, Michelle (Glen) MacKenzie, Bobby Jo Moss, Robbie Gardener; 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Conway, Sr.; sisters: Molly, Jessie, Chrissie, Minnie, and her twin, Jean; brothers, Alex and Alfie.
Visitation will be held 2-4, and 7-9 p.m. today (Tuesday) in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, with Rev. John Roy officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.
