ROCKY MOUNTAIN – Daniel Alexander “Bud” MacDonald, 89, of Rocky Mountain, Pictou County, passed away April 18, 2009, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born at Rocky Mountain, he was a son of the late Kenneth Neil and Tressa (Clyburne) MacDonald.
Bud was a lifelong resident of Rocky Mountain. He was employed for many years with the Department of Lands and Forests working on the Garden of Eden Barrens. Bud, in his later years, worked for MacLennan Brothers as a grader operator. He also worked on his farm and enjoyed his cows and horses. He enjoyed family times, especially times spent with his grandchildren. He had a love for horse pulls, fishing, playing cards, snacking on cheesies and sweet treats. Bud was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church, East River St. Mary’s.
He is survived by his children: Joyce (Donnie) Rae, Coalburn; Scott (Ethel) MacDonald, New Town; Elaine MacDonald, New Glasgow; Kenneth (Toby) MacDonald, Egerton; Jayne (Arnold) Greene, MacPherson’s Mills; grandchildren: Stephanie (Jason) Cameron, Julie (Jeff) MacDonald, Wayne (Jennifer & Rod) MacDonald, Karen MacDonald Sarah, Daniel & Jenna MacDonald, Janelle and Jillian Greene; two great-grandchildren, Carson MacDonald and Isaac Cameron; sisters Mae MacDonald, New York/Florida; Anne Henderson, Greenwood; Theresa Fraser, Garden of Eden; Shirley (Keith) Cruickshank, New Glasgow; brother George F. (Elsie) MacDonald, Rocky Mountain; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret E. Weagle; infant daughter; sister Helen; brothers Robert “Bob” and William K. “Bill”.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Zion Presbyterian Church, East River St. Mary’s with Rev. Calvin Crichton officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Bud may be made to Valley View Cemetery, East River St. Mary's, or Camp Gedde.
