PICTOU LANDING FIRST NATION – Capt. Anthony Daniel Nicholas, 62 of 123 Beach Road, Pictou Landing First Nation passed away suddenly on April 22, 2009 at his home.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ella Mae (Francis) Nicholas.
He worked as a fisherman and was involved in Forestry Management. As well, he was an avid hunter, trapper and carpenter in his younger years. He loved sports and TV Bingo.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Francis) Nicholas, Pictou Landing First Nation; a son, Anthony Nicholas Jr. (Jennifer), daughters: Elizabeth Nicholas (Leonard), Angela Nicholas, and Vanessa Nicholas, all of Pictou Landing First Nation; step-daughter, Lynn Francis, Millbrook; grandchildren: April, Kyle (Felicia), Megan, Renae, Dylan and Alaina, great-grandchildren: Madison and Kyle jij; sisters: Sarah Francis, Jennie Stevens, Jennifer Gould, Mary Hatfield, all of Pictou Landing First Nation; Ann Marie Nicholas, Millbrook; brothers, Noel Nicholas and Durney Nicholas, both of Pictou Landing First Nation; Joseph Nicholas, Waycobah; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Cecelia Marie in infancy; sisters: Margaret Rose Francis, Catherine Marie MacEachern, Clara Marie Boyles and Susie Ann Nicholas; brothers: Norman Nicholas, James Nicholas and one in infancy.
His remains will rest at 123 Beach Road, Pictou Landing First Nation after 2 p.m. Saturday. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing First Nation with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
