PICTOU – Dorothy Margaret McClair, 97, of the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, passed away on May 1, 2009, in the home.
Born in New Westminister, B.C., she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Ida (TingmanN) Fyfe.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Pictou and an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary. An avid reader, she also enjoyed painting in oils. After her husband’s death she operated McClair’s Bakery for many years.
She is survived by daughters, Joan Morais (Clifford) and Margaret Curran (Harold); grandchildren: Anne Beaumont, Elizabeth McCann (Kevin), Andrew, Mary, Avril Bird (David) and Alexander; five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer; sister, Hazel, and brother, Wilbert.
A private graveside service will take place in Seaview Cemetery. A public reception will take place on Monday at 3 p.m. in the Shiretown Nursing Home.
Family flowers only, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Pictou.
Arrangements are under the direction of the McLaren Funeral Service, Pictou.
