Passed peacefully away at her family residence on Tuesday, August 19th, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, Mildred Hickey at the age of 76 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her 11 children: Mary Ellen Evoy (the late Thomas Evoy), Marie Gallant (Alban), Kevin Hickey (Judy), Gloria Hickey (Paul), Willis Hickey (Joan), Marina Vater (George), Geneva Hickey (Ted), Wayne Hickey (Caroline), Elaine Hickey (Gord), Derek Hickey (Mary) and Maureen Duffy (Brian); 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, James Boland (Bride); sister, Clara Hickey; sisters-in-law: Mary McCarthy (Robert), Gertrude McCarthy, Vera Hickey, Dorothy Companion (Ross), Monica Lauretig (John) and Maude Dormody; brother-in-law, James Hickey (Sylvia), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, George Hickey, August 13, 1997 and four children: Doreen, Cyril, Michael and Lorraine. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 22nd at 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Benoits Cove, followed by the interment at the church cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street, Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish.
