Lieu de décès : Californie, États-Unis
Date de décès : 9 mars 2010
BARNES, Prof. Thomas Garden, passed away from a stroke on March 9, 2010, in California. He spent most of his summers at his ancestral home in Nova Scotia, with his wife of 55 years, and his children and grandchildren. Many family and friends from around the world had visited him over the years. He was a professor of history and law at the University of California, Berkeley, for 50 years, and his passion for Nova Scotia and Canada was so great that he founded the Canadian Studies program. He loved to fish, swim, and sail in Saint Mary's Bay, and he also loved tramping through the woods. He thoroughly enjoyed all the time that he ever spent remembering the past with his neighbors, friends and family in Nova Scotia. He will be interred in the Anglican Cemetery in Digby this summer with his family and friends present. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gilbert's Cove Lighthouse, which he loved so much.
