Mary Catherine Elder of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed peacefully away in the High River Long Term Care Unit of the High River, Alberta Hospital on Saturday December 5th, 2009. Mary passed with family by her side for the remaining 5 days of her life. Mary had lived in her apartment in Okotoks until she was 91, with the loving care of family and amazing Okotoks Health Care Professionals attending to her needs. Mary was a wartime bride and was married to her husband Willis Earle Elder. Her husband Willis, also known as Bill, was a soldier then owner/operator of Elders Esso, an auto service car dealership, as well as farmer. They were married until his passing in May 15th 1987. Mary in the early days worked at Eatons as a seamstress and always had a passion for style in fashion. During WW 2 she cared for her widowed mother, Elizabeth Goudie and baby daughter Marilyn. Her priority in life was being a good mother to her five children. She faithfully attended the St. Andrews United Church in Moose Jaw for over 75 years. Mary had a zest for music and enjoyed many day trips and adventures with her family. Mary was known for her kindness, smiles and the sparkle in her eye when enjoying outings and activities. Most of all she loved the times when her children & grandchildren came home to visit. She taught her children the value of community service and integrity. Mary enjoyed visiting her friends and many times gifting them with little nicely wrapped presents. Mary with the nickname "Scotty" was a cherished daughter of predeceased parents Elizabeth and Daniel Goudie along with her brothers Stanley, William, & Alec Goudie.
