Arthur G. Stainforth of Riverview passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Hucknall, England, October 7, 1920, he was the son of the late A. Samuel and Ada (Hunt) Stainforth. Arthur was a Veteran of WWII, (RAF) RCAF Reserve rank of Flying Officer, he retired from British Consulate in Halifax. He was included in 14M the Queens birthday honors and decorated into The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Former chairman, Board of School Trustees, Superintendent Inter-denominational Sunday School, Spruce Lake, NB, Past Vice President Cdn. Legion, Carleton Branch, No. 2, Past Master, St. Johns' Lodge No. 2 and was a former member of the Stilesville United Church Choir. He is survived by wife Vivian (Briggs), son Richard (Bonnie) of Fredericton, daughter Susan Martin (Philip) of Campobello Island, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by first wife Jessie (1983).
The family will be receiving visitors at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Monday, April 12th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, the funeral service will take place from Cobb's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, April 13th at 1:00 PM with Rev. Gordon Horsman officiating. The interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Fredericton at a late date.
