Daniel 'Junior' McMullin, 80, of 3412 Emerald St., River Ryan, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Daniel and Johanna (MacKeigan) McMullin.
Junior served in the Korean War and later worked as a coal miner and handyman. He was a member of the former St. Michael's Church in River Ryan.
Junior was an excellent craftsman/handyman and had great love for his children, grandchildren family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma (Porter); seven children, Patrick, Cole Harbour, Carolyn Power (Greg Andrews), Halifax, Barb (Don) Coleman, Moncton, N.B., June (Randy) Speiran, Ottawa, Catherine (Don ) Foster, New Waterford, Robert (Gail Bainbridge) McMullin, Cole Harbour, and Linda (David) Bruton, Riverview, N.B.; also survived by his sister, Joanne Meery, New Waterford; and brother, Bill (Fran) McMullin, New Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also survived by his three step-children, Debbie (Joe) Cheetham, Margaree, Stella (Joe MacKinnon) Porter, Scotchtown, and Robert (Karen MacNeil) Porter, New Waterford, and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Junior was predeceased by his first wife, Rose (McNeil) McMullin in 1988, eldest daughter, Anne Marie, sisters, Trudy Vallas, Agnes MacDonald and Tina Brennen, brothers, Edward, Lauchie, Frank and Paddy and one grandson.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Farrell, Mary and Elaine and all the nurses and doctors of 2nd floor New Waterford Consolidated Hospital for their professional and terrific care. Special thanks to Michelle "Guardian Angel" Kelly and Tim.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place by request. A memorial service will be today, Friday, April 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home Ltd., 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery at a later date. A reception in Daniel's honour will follow immediately after the service at the KOC Hall, 3226 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, all are welcome.
