Milton "Milt" H Slauson, age 83, of Amherst, passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, on Friday, April 16, 2010.
Born in Roxbury, NY, he was a son of the late Orley and Effie (Morse) Slauson.
Milt enjoyed the outdoors, camping, his travel trailer and was an avid skier in his younger years. Near retirement, he fell in love with the game of golf and relished his time on the course with his fellow golfers, who knew him as the "Golf Doc". In the winter months, when his golf clubs were put away, he spent much of his time at the rink, videotaping the Rambler's games and helping with other volunteer positions.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Charis (Stahl), of Amherst; his children, Barbara (Len) MacDonald, Antigonish, NS and Janice (Steven) Gile, Cobleskill, NY, his grandchildren whom he loved dearly and cherished to their fullest, Ryan and Jonathan MacDonald, Michelle Gaida, Jennifer Adair and Mark Gile; 8 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Alan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777). Cremation has taken place with no service according to his wishes.
