Waldenberg - George passed away on Friday, April 23rd, 2010 at the Union Hospital with family at his side. George was born at Grayburn in 1928 and later moved to Marquis. After his schooling, George started farming. He married Shirley in 1951. They were blessed with two children, Randy and Dawn Heather. They enjoyed farm life until they moved to Moose Jaw in 1971. Square and round dancing played a big part in their lives. He became a caller and retired in 2009 after 40 years. In retirement years he loved doing wood working and they belonged to the Duplicate Bridge Club. They loved it and met many new friends. They played together and they say it takes a good marriage to accomplish that feat. George and Shirley belong to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church parish. George was predeceased by his parents Nora and George; step Mom Lena; brothers Bill and Harry; sister Doris; brothers in law Don Mitchell, Frances Maher, Leonard Frœhlich, Alex Laviolette and Fred Shearer; sisters in law Alice Maher, Paula Laviolette, Audree Shearer, Adele Frœhlich, Elsie Frœhlich and Margaret Hurl; and dear daughter in law Brenda. George is survived by his best friend and loving wife Shirley; son Randy; daughter Dawn Heather (Guy); grandchildren Leah (Raul), Russ (Lindsay), Courtney, Brady, Tammy (Dave), Dwayne (Pam), Bobbi Jo (Chad); great-grandchildren Unya, Ludwig, Katie, Shontaye, Daegan, Tristan; Brenda's family Tara (Greg) and their children Rachael, Paige, Jeff (Lynn) and Tammy; brothers in law Joe and Garry (Merle). The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 28th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. N.W. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Fr. Neil Osiowy will be the Presiding Celebrant an Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. Thank you to Palliative Care for their love and support, especially Marie Ellingson and Katherine Brisbin.
