Carel Bœrs, 79, Port Hawkesbury, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010, in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home.
Carel was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, he was a son of the late Jacobus and Christina (Andriesson) Bœrs. Carel was a retired mechanic of Stora Forest Industries. He was a member of Port Hawkesbury Lions Club for many years. Carel enjoyed travelling and family times.
He is survived by his sons, Fred (Lorraine), Mulgrave, Ron (Cathy), Stellarton; grandchildren, Carel (Michelle), Shawn (Lori), Adam, Carli; sisters, Agnes (Allan), England, Cor Hol, Netherlands, Tiny (Ger) Tepaske, Netherlands; brother, Koos (Ali), Netherlands; many nieces and nephews in Holland.
Carel was predeceased by his wife, Elly; son, Michael; brother, Jan.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Rev. Sheldon LeGrow officiating. Burial at a later date in Southbrook Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury.
