On Saturday, May 2, 2009, surrounded by his family, Frank Joseph Stankowski passed away at the Pineview Lodge in Nipawin at the age of 71 years.
Frank was born to Carl and Jennie Stankowski on March 18, 1938, in the Samburg District, east of Prince Albert. He married Pauline Renkas on October 3, 1959. Frank worked at Burns Meats for 18 years in Prince Albert and Edmonton. In 1975, Frank and Pauline decided to move to Nipawin and purchased the Green Groves Motel. After selling the motel in 1980, Frank decided to sell vehicles at Nipawin Chrysler Dodge. Frank enjoyed working with the public and made many friends. He sold vehicles until his first bout with cancer in July of 1999. His faith in God gave him strength in his battle with cancer. The way he handled his voice handicap was an inspiration to all. Frank appreciated the support of his friends, relatives, and acquaintances during his illness. Frank is also a charter member and honorary life member of both the St Mark Parish Council #5543 in Prince Albert and Pope John Paul 1 Council #7315 of the Knights of Columbus in Nipawin. He enjoyed gardening, visiting with friends, and spending time with his most prized treasures, his grandsons. Frank was also a devoted husband, father, brother and uncle.
He was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Jennie Stankowski; his in-laws Joseph and Nettie Renkas; and brother in-law Don Muntain.
Frank is survived by his wife, Pauline (Renkas) Stankowski of Nipawin; three sons, Blair (Connie), Bret and Colton of Calgary; Dwayne (Donna) of Martensville; and Ivan (Rhonda) of Nipawin; his brother, Chester (Loretta), their family; as well as Pauline’s siblings and their families.
Prayers will be held at St. Eugene RC Church in Nipawin, Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 11:00 am at St. Eugene Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory may be sent to Nipawin Home Care (to help purchase a sleeper chair) or the Saskatoon Cancer Patient Lodge. Arrangements are in care of Heritage Funeral Home-Nipawin.
