Keddy, Cecil David - 78, of Port Williams, Kings County, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010 in Blomidon Court, Greenwich. Born in Forest Home, he was a son of the late Ambrose and Margaret (Arenburg) Keddy. A very skilled self-taught carpenter, he was a retired contractor, having built many homes in Kings County, service stations for Irving Oil, a fish plant in Newfoundland and the original buildings in Sherwood Forest Camp Ground, Coldbrook and the Kings County Municipal Airport, Waterville. He was involved in the construction of the Municipality of Kings Administrative Building, Kentville. He was Public Works Superintendant in Port Williams for over 30 years and also held the position of Harbour Master. Cecil had a very strong work ethic, was a people person, loved children and was extremely proud of his family. Always interested in oxen, he was a member of the Kings County Ox Pull Association and participated in many competitions throughout the province. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Marion Avery; two daughters, Glenda (Eric) Clark and their daughter, Maggie, Port Williams; Gayle, Port Williams; a son, Bev (fiancée, Patricia), Halifax; five sisters, Hattie Spencer, Windsor; Rita Llewellyn, New Minas; Mary (Clifford) Pemberton, New Minas; Leona Feener, New Minas; Alice Urquhart, Ontario; a brother, Frank (Thelma Gillis), Kentville; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Ernest Cecil Keddy; three sisters, Frances, Violet and Margaret; four brothers, Melbourne, Harry, James and Robert, and an infant brother, Oliver. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010 Reverend Elizabeth Johnson officiated. A private family burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to Nova Scotia 4-H Council or the Valley Hospice Foundation.
