WHITE, RUTH EVELYN
1932 - 2010
White, Ruth Evelyn - 77 of River Hebert, NS passed away May 11, 2010 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in River Hebert, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Stewart.
She is survived by her husband, Dan White, her son John Burnett of BC, her sister Margaret Rose (Bruce) Erickson, of O'Leary, PEI, her stepchildren, Wilma (Lonnie) Langille of Wallace Bridge, NS, Rose Leroux (Wayne), of Halifax, NS, Valerie (Dave) Smiley of Malagash, NS, Jeff (Sandra) White of Amherst, NS, Mark (Carrie) White of PEI, step-grandchildren, Dwayne Edwards, Amanda McCleary, Danielle Edwards, Amber (Steven) McKay, step great-grandchildren Cody Hicks, Drake Edwards, Mark Cameron, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Barb Stewart, Janet Stewart, Bernie (Joyce) White, Curtis (Linda) White, Doris (Bud) Gower, Ruby (Mayheu) Jackson, Myrna (Allie) Leman and Keith Champion.
Ruth was predeceased by her brothers, Newton Stewart of Stratford, Ontario, Sandy Stewart of LIverpool, NS, her sister Mildred Champion of Summerside PEI and step-grandchild, Tina McCleary.
Ruth graduated from River Hebert High School followed by a business course at St. Charles Commercial College in Amherst, NS. She worked at Central Charge in Amherst, NS, Eaton's in Moncton, at Eagle Pencil in Toronto and Master Seal & Door in Brantford, Ontario.
She and Danny returned "home" to River Hebert in 1995 to look after Ruth's mom and remained to make their permanent home in River Hebert.
Ruth was active in the community, a member of the U.C.W., and a faithful member of the United Church. She was a friend to many people, always ready to visit those in need of a cheery smile, taking with her a box of baked goodies.
She did the most beautiful needlework which can be seen displayed throughout their home.
Ruth was and is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Cremation has taken place by Furlong~Jones Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 pm, on Friday, the 14th day of May, 2010 at the River Hebert United Church conducted by the Rev. Carolyn MacLeod. A reception will follow at the River Hebert United Church Hall. Graveside service at a later date for family only.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Cancer Society, Brain Tumor Division or the River Hebert United Church or a charity of your choice.
