Dorothy Munro (Nee Heppell) - 1911-2010
Passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, in her 99th year. Cherished mother of Ian Munro and his wife Marilyn Miller and devoted grandmother to Alison and Brian (Leah), she is also survived by her brother William (Margaret) and many nieces, nephews and their families in England. She was predeceased by her husband James Munro (1983). Mom was born near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the third of nine children. Leaving Cambridge, England, in 1951, the family settled in Fredericton for 16 years before moving to Ottawa in 1967. In 2002, she came to Kitchener to be close to her son and his family.
Volunteering as a member of hospital auxiliaries in Fredericton and in Ottawa at both Civic and Riverside (Lifelong Member) was a personal joy with the contributions and friendships she made.
Honouring Dorothy's personal wishes a cremation has taken place. Donations may be made to a local hospital.
