Born in Glace Bay, N.S., Sept. 30, 1940. She died of lymphoma in her Wellesley, Mass., home on May 8, 2010.
Patricia was the daughter of Frazer and Patricia Steele of Glace Bay (both deceased).
She was the beloved wife of Michael J. Maggard and beloved mother of Michael F. Maggard of Wellesley, Mass., and Andrea S. (Maggard) O'Connor of Mill Valley, Calif.
Patricia was predeceased by her daughter, Dolores Grey and her brother, Joseph Steele.
Patricia is survived by her sister, Nancy; brothers, Michael, Frazer, Ronald and Paul. She is also survived by her son-in-law, William O'Connor; numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom brought her joy.
Patricia grew up in Cape Breton, N.S., cherishing the weekends she spent with her beloved grandparents Daniel Joseph and Sarah MacVarish and Michael and Isabella Steele. In 1961 she graduated from the St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Glace Bay. In 1964, she moved to Santa Monica, Calif., to work at St. John's Hospital where she enjoyed the happy task of caring for newborn babies in the maternity ward.
Patricia and Michael married in January, 1966. They have lived abroad and travelled extensively. The family has lived in Wellesley since 1976. Patricia's friends and family treasured her sweet nature, love of children, and delightful wit.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, Saturday, May 15. Interment private.
