MRS. MARGARET PALMER Mrs. Margaret Catherine Palmer, age 91, of Lamont, AB and formerly of Prince Albert, SK passed away in Lamont on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21 from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 - 25 Street East by Father Matthew Nguyen. The late Mrs. Palmer is survived by her loving family: her two sons Dr. Guy (Sherry) Palmer (Carissa, Sherise, Mathew); Tom (Julia) Palmer (Andrea, Josh, Tanya and her children Ryder and Cason) and her daughter Moneca K. (Ross) Blackwell (Guy, Anthony, Deanna); her daughter-in-law Beth Palmer (Jake, Jesse, Brook); her first cousins Frances Brown and Gladys (Alf) Bennett; her nieces and nephews Marilyn (Dale) Potts, Dick Mollan and Don Mollan. She was predeceased by her husband Louis in 1974; her son Greg Palmer; her parents Elias and Rachel Malouf; her sisters Linda Mollan, Tillie Hello, Mary O'Connor and Lil McDonald; her brother Dr. S.E. (Eileen) Malouf. Margaret was born on July 3, 1918 in Saskatoon, SK where she was also raised and educated. She worked with RAF Transport as a civilian for air staff in Dorval, Quebec. Margaret married Louis Palmer in 1940. Some of Mom's accomplishments were that as a young woman she was a secretary for the Royal Airforce and took dictation for Churchill. She got her teaching certificate and began teaching shorthand up in Prince Albert and basically brought to Canada the first teaching computer to Prince Albert Tech for shorthand and due to this John Diefenbaker came to see her and this new computer! She worked in Siera Leone with CUSO. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Saskatchewan Teacher's Super Annuation, PA Business and Professional Women's and the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club. Medically she amazed us 4 Cesearan Sections, brain aneurysim, 5 by pass surgery, malaryia and mutliple motor vehicle accidents. She enjoyed skiing, golfing and gardening. We are celebrating her life today for she is truly free. May her next journey be as full as this one was here with us.
