Langis J. Robichaud, 75, of Moncton, passed away unexpectedly at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont on Thursday May 27, 2010. Born on June 15, 1934 in Richibucto, NB, he was the son of the late Louis P.A. and Lorette (Langis) Robichaud. Langis attended St. Francis Xavier University from 1951 to 1954. While at St. F.X., he trained with U.N.T.D. and was commissioned an officer with the Royal Canadian Navy. He obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer Chiropractic College, Davenport, Iowa, in 1957. He carried on an active chiropractic practice in Moncton from 1958 to 1997. He was the founding President of the Moncton East Liberal Association. Langis was very involved in his community having been past President of the Parents' Committee of Les Jeunes Chanteurs d'Acadie, St. Pat's Family Centre and the Moncton Museum. He was also on the board of directors for the Co-op Centre as well as a member of the Moncton Garrison Officer's Mess and the Beauséjour Curling Club. He was also an active member of St. Bernard's R.C. Church. In past years, Langis was an amateur radio operator; he enjoyed fishing, gardening and was a "handyman" at home and at the shore. He was musical and played his harmonica at family gatherings. Langis was also an avid card player, was bilingual and supported his French Acadian culture. Langis and Janet enjoyed many summers at their cottage in Caissie Cape with family and friends. Langis will be sadly missed by his loving wife and best friend of over 52 years, Janet (Link); five daughters: Lise-Rachelle of Fredericton; Ann-Renée Nowlan (Michael) of New Glasgow, NS, Dr. Rhéa (Mark Lyons) of Whitby, ON, Aline of Toronto, ON, Michelle (Chris Lorde) of Moncton; one son: Dr. Marc (Jan) of Elk River, Minnesota; one sister: Carmella of Rexton; one brother: Dr Adrian (Francesca) of Amherst, NS; 11 grandchildren: Matteo Robichaud-Migniacia, Sarah-Emily and Danielle Marie Nowlan, Alexandre, Nicholas, Gregory and Robert Lyons, Miah, Nyomi, Alexa and Jonzel Robichaud-Lorde, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by five sisters: Rita, Lucille, Stella, Thérèse and Lorette, as well as two brothers: Louis and Yves.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of departure (10:50). The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard's R.C. Church (Botsford St., Moncton) on Monday May 31, 2010 at 11 a.m. In memory of Langis, a contribution to St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church (Elevator Fund), the New Brunswick Lung Association or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. www.frenettefuneralhome.com
