It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Wayne Melvin Aaston of Saskatoon on May 10, 2009. Wayne is survived by his two daughters, Emily and Kelsey and his son, Dillon. Also left to mourn are his two sisters, Beverley Aaston (Wayne McGillivray), and Pearl (Tony) Baumgartner; his brother, Greg Aaston; nieces Cory Alm, Kristin Alm, and Brina Alm, and Julia Baumgartner; and nephew Matthew Baumgartner. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Myrtle Irene and Melvin. Wayne was born in Moose Jaw on June 30, 1949. In 1956, the family moved to Victoria, BC. As a youth, Wayne was an accomplished trumpet player. Wayne’s great love of scuba diving took him to the Australian Great Barrier Reef for several years, followed by Hawaii. Thereafter, he settled in San Diego, CA where his three children were born and continue to reside with their mother, Rebecca Lawlor. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Parkridge Centre. As well, we wish to express our gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, and support staff at St.Paul’s Hospital who treated Wayne with great humanity and made his last weeks very comfortable. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
