Kenneth George Jerred was born in Moose Jaw on December 22, 1913 and passed away June 1, 2010 at age 96. Ken married Doris Fraser on October 7, 1937. He served in the Army during WWII and is a veteran and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. In his earlier years he worked for the Moose Jaw School Unit, then went out on his own as a finishing carpenter. Ken built many items that are treasured by his family and friends. He loved a challenge and could always figure out a way to satisfy the customer. Ken had a very special love of listening to various artist's piano music, which he had playing daily. For many years Ken and Doris travelled to Las Vegas each fall for a vacation. He also had two special poodles he was very fond of. Ken was predeceased by his wife Doris, one sister and seven brothers. He is survived by his sister Maurine Ford of Abbotsford, BC. Ken helped celebrate Maurine's 100th birthday on October 18, 2009. He will be missed by his son Clifford Lynn Jerred (Marlene) and their daughters Cynthia, Juliet, Laurel, and Cheryl Ann Jerred; daughter Judy, who was a special joy to Ken and Doris, and her son Darren; and ten great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Cheryl's friend Ruth Garda for her assistance during this time of need. A private family graveside service for Ken will be held at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7, would be appreciated. In living memory of Ken, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
