MEIKLEFIELD – Charles Leonard (Lennie) Rhyno, 77, of Meiklefield, Pictou County, passed away Wednesday, May 13th, 2009, at the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born in Brierly Brook, he was a son of the late Andrew and Ruby (Corkum) Rhyno.
Lennie lived in Meiklefield most of his life. He worked in the woods in his early life, later working in the mining industry and Canadian Lumber Company. Lennie also worked for the Dept. of Highways. He then went on to operate his own business. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain.
He is survived by his wife, the former Charlotte (Cooley); son; David (Shelley), Meiklefield; daughters: Jane (Donald) Taylor, Stellarton; Mary (Daryl) Allard, Meiklefield; Martha Rhyno Sabourin, Westville; Karen (Kenny) Latter, Meiklefield; Linda (Clarence) Freeman, Westville; Carolyn (Tony) Delorey, Westville; Dawne (Bill) Mair, Richibucto, NB; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Stirling, Sutherland’s River; Eddie, Thorburn; sisters, Katherine VanGruensen; Edna Findlay, both of ON.
He was predeceased by his brothers: Oscar, Emmerson, Garfield and John; sisters; Mary and Dorothy.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday with Rev. Calvin Crichton officiating.
Donations in memory of Lennie may be made to Glen Haven Manor.
