Alvin L. Landsburg, age 77, of Sackville, passed away suddenly at the Moncton City Hospital on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Born in Kemptown, Colchester County, NS, he was a son of the late Lockhart and Mabel (Fenton) Landsburg. Alvin worked 38 years with CN and VIA, previous to that he was a member of the RCMP Marine Division. He was a founding member of the Port Hastings Fire Department, and one of the founders of Boy Scouts in Port Hastings. He was very active in the United Church and various community committees. He was PDDGM of the Grand Lodge of New Brunswick, a member of Westmorland Lodge #44, Port Elgin, and received his 50 year Jewel in May from Westmorland Lodge. He was a Shriner, a member of Scottish Rite, Moncton and a past patron of Fort Monckton Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed summers at his cottage in Baie Verte, boating and time with his family. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 49 years Judith 'Judy' (Macdonald), of Sackville, daughter Myra Landsburg, London, England; sons Wade, Riverview, Mark (Katherine Grapes), Montreal, PQ; grandaughter Cara, London, England; twin brother Allen (Lillian), Westmount, Cape Breton and brother Seth (Dorothy), Bible Hill, NS; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by infant son Dwayne; sisters Dorothy Weiss, Helen Langille, Kay Cox, Editha Boutilier; brothers James, Fred, and Burll.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB where visiting hours will take place on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 2 pm, David Jones LLM and Rev. David Eagles. Cremation will take place following the funeral and the ashes will be buried in St. David's United Church Cemetery, Port Hastings, Cape Breton. Those wishing to make a donation in Alvin's memory may do so to the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, or the Shriner's Transportation Fund, or the charity of your choice. A Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home at 7 pm, Friday, June 11, 2010. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
