Helen Marie Murphy of Riverview passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Moncton Hospital. Born October 27, 1924 in Lunenburg, NS, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Daisy (MacLean) MacKay. Helen retired in 1976 from the accounting department at the T. Eaton Co., prior to which she was worked for the Royal Bank and Nova Scotia Light and Power. She attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Riverview and was a former member of St. Michael's Church in Moncton where she was very active. A member of the Bridgedale Seniors Group, Helen enjoyed the fellowship of playing cards with the same group of friends for over 35 years. Helen was a very talented creative lady who enjoyed making beautiful crafts. She also was a avid gardener who took great pride in her yard and gardens. She will be dearly missed by her children; David (Diane) of Vancouver, Donald T. (Pierrette) of Moncton, Terrance (Terry) of Riverview, Diane Snook (Henry) of Langley, BC, Carol Leverman (David) of Lake Echo, NS and Suzanne Breau (Jean Marie) of Moncton, brother Charles (Enid) of Liverpool, NS, 11 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband John E. Murphy in 1982, daughter in law, Linda Murphy and brothers, Frank, Harold, Lawrence, Aubrey, Kenneth and Robert.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM, with parish prayers and sharing of memories to take place at 8:30 PM from the funeral home. The service will be held from Cobb's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Wednesday June 16,2010 at 11:00 AM with Father Phil Mulligan officiating. The interment will take place at our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
