Clayton Byard Greene, of Greenwich, Kings County, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Born in Pereaux, Kings County, he was a son of the late Byard and Evelyn (Fox) Greene. He had been employed as an Agriculture Inspector for the Federal Government. He had been a member of the Pereaux Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and a Deacon for a number of years and was involved with the choir and the Board of Trustees. Clayton also enjoyed barbershop singing and was a member of the Dukes of Kent.
He is survived by his wife, the former Violet Penney; two daughters, Carol-Anne (Alex) Yim, Gibsons, B.C.; Shelagh (Fred) MacAulay, Sydney; three sons, Gary (Maureen) Greene, Hinsdale, Illinois, Garland (Eva) Greene, Wolfville, Graham (Maryanne) Greene, Lake Land, Florida; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Carrol and Sheldon; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Vernon.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010 in the Pereaux Baptist Church, Reverend Doctor Mark Parent and Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. A reception will follow in Cherry Hall, catered by the Lola B. Eaton Auxiliary. Interment will take place in the Pereaux Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Pereaux Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Matt Targett and the nurses and the Stroke Team of Medical B at the Valley Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.
